Meet Andres
Guatemalan wildlife photographer & expedition leader — big cats, herping & Neotropical birds
Andres Novales is a Guatemalan wildlife photographer and expedition leader who grew up just outside Guatemala City, chasing frogs and snakes in the countryside and falling for reptiles and amphibians early. He studied biology before picking up a camera, and has since spent nearly a decade leading photographic expeditions across Latin America and beyond — the Pantanal, Bolivia, the Peruvian Amazon, Colombia, plus the Himalayas, Southeast Asia, Mediterranean Spain and the Arctic. His work centres on Neotropical ecosystems, big cats, and herping, pairing strong images with a conservation message. On his tours the photograph is never the whole point — he is after the full experience of being out in wild places with animals living their lives around you.
How Andres guides
I run small-group, experience-first expeditions built around genuine field time: scouting, reading animal behaviour, and ethical access to sensitive species (e.g. nesting Harpy Eagles from respectful viewing points). Nights out herping, days in the field, and a focus on the whole encounter — the search, the silence before it, and the image that comes out of it — while supporting local communities and conservation.
