For travelers · Costa Rica

Stake your one big trip on data, not a hopeful guess.

You've chosen the species. Lyferr shows you the guides who actually find it — ranked by verified sighting rates, not star ratings. Search what you came for and see who can deliver it.

Lyferr ranks Costa Rica wildlife guides by verified sighting rates instead of star ratings, so you can book the guide who actually finds your target species. Search a species, compare guides on real track records — like "found the resplendent quetzal on 47 of 50 verified trips" — and hire for a morning or a full package.

The trip you can't gamble on

Fly across the world, spend a week and thousands of dollars — and still miss the one bird.

A serious wildlife trip costs $4,000 to $8,000 and a week of your life, and it rides on one decision: did you pick a guide who can actually find your target species. Until now there was no way to know. So people DM photographers, ask a forum, book someone, and hope.

We think your one big trip deserves better than hope.

Truth over stars

A five-star guide can still miss your species every time.

Star ratings measure friendliness, punctuality, and lunch. None of that tells you whether the animal showed up. A guide can be lovely, professional, well-reviewed — and wrong for the quetzal you flew in for. Lyferr rates the only thing that matters for your trip: how often a guide actually delivers the species.

How we earn your trust

A sighting rate you can actually trust.

Anyone can claim a perfect record after one lucky trip. Our Accuracy Index won't let them. Every sighting is backed by two-sided proof: the guide's geotagged, timestamped photo, plus the traveler's own confirmation. Neither side can fake it alone. We cross-check every claim against eBird, GBIF, and iNaturalist, so a species claimed where it doesn't occur gets flagged.

Then we do the honest math. A guide who's 1-for-1 does not outrank a guide who's 47-for-50. We show the confidence range, not just the headline number. Every guide is tagged Verified, Reported, or Unverified — and we always tell you which.

Transparency is the product. If we can't back it up, we won't show it as fact.

What we will and won't tell you

No guide can promise a wild animal. We can show you who's delivered it, and how often.

Wildlife is wild. No honest guide guarantees a sighting, and neither do we. Lyferr exists to improve your odds, not to promise an outcome. When a track record is thin, we say so. When a claim isn't verified, we label it. Being honest about what we don't know is the whole point — it's how you know you can trust what we do show.
